Application Process

Step 1

To start the process, please send an email to info@eaat.ca.  Our Appeal Panel Administrator will guide you through the process. You will be asked to provide information about yourself that the Tribunal uses to conduct an initial screening.

A Criminal Record Check will be a part of the application process.

Step 2

After passing the initial screening, candidates will be asked to complete some testing.  The testing is to ensure candidates meet legislated requirements and demonstrate skills in interpreting and applying legislation, analytical decision-making and decision writing.

Step 3

The Tribunal will invite candidates who pass the testing stage to interview with the Tribunal Chair. The Tribunal will also conduct reference checks and a criminal record check.

Step 4

The Tribunal Chair will recommend successful candidates for appointment by the Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction.  As part of the appointment process the Crown Agencies and Board Resourcing Office also conducts a review any candidates recommended for appointment.
